We have found whilst working on many electrical switchboards on residential and commercial premises our attentions would be drawn to the different speeds the meter in these boards would spin. Lights would be turned on, heater elements for hot water systems would kick in, every electrical appliance would make this meter spin faster and faster. It had us starting to think about electricity, energy consumption and the impact this has and will have on our lives and therefore the environment.
We found it to be very simple, if your meter spins fast then your electricity bill and carbon emissions will be high, if your meter spins slowly then your electricity bill and carbon emissions will be low. We are here to slow down your meter and even start to spin it backwards giving you credits. Next time your near you board take a look at your meter spinning, then look beyond this spinning meter which conveniently powers your homes, schools and commercial premises, to the process to have this electricity delivered to your door.
In a nut shell, fossil fuels are burnt to produce electricity which sends carbon into the atmosphere. This carbon forms a layer in the atmosphere stopping heat from the earths surface being removed (green house effect). This trapped heat is slowly raising the temperature of our earth and it has been predicted that the average temperature could rise by 2 to 4 degrees in the next 50 years. Should this occur, the consequences will be enormous. |
